Background on CBD

Hemp has been around and cultivated by human beings for thousands of years and is grown in many parts of the world today, including North America. Hemp plants produce nutritious seeds that are high in protein and have many uses, such as being pressed into a healthy culinary oil. These seeds are also used to make hemp milk, an alternative to dairy milk. Hemp stalks are used for paper and textiles and can supply the base for green building materials and alternative fuel. Hemp is an earth-friendly plant that grows rapidly and is ready for harvest in just a few months, making it highly sustainable and renewable.

CBD is an acronym or abbreviation for Cannabidiol, which in the case of VERUM 10X CBD, is a compound extracted from an organic hemp plant. The CBD in VERUM 10X is one of more than 100 unique compounds found in hemp, known as cannabinoids. Cannabinoids are known to promote health and to keep people resilient to changes in their environment.
It is important to note, however, that VERUM CBD is NOT an oil. It IS 100% water soluble and therefore approximately 90% bioavailable compared to other CBD or Hemp oils.
CBD is non-intoxicating and is considered extremely safe.
When utilized as a legal health supplement, CBD comes from industrial hemp, which has been cultivated by humans for over 10,000 years and is grown in many parts of the world with multiple uses.
Hemp and marijuana come from the same plant family, but are completely different in function, cultivation and application. Marijuana generally has about 20% THC (a psychoactive compound that makes you feel “high”) and is used for medicinal or recreational purposes. Hemp contains only .3% or less THC (but is high in CBD--about 20%).
CBD is not a sedative. It is currently being researched as a supplement for anxiety and depression.
Frequency and length of use, as well as your body’s metabolism, weight and health status, can play a part in how much CBD is right for you. More isn’t necessarily better. The therapeutic amount of CBD per serving varies for each individual.

Is All CBD Created Equal?

In order for CBD to enter your bloodstream, it must be constructed in such a way that it becomes bioavailable. Most common or conventional CBD products are only about 5% bioavailable, providing little if any therapeutic benefits, but dramatically increasing your EFFECTIVE COST per milligram. So, if you have experienced a low-bioavailable CBD product that hasn’t worked for you in the past, try VERUM and notice the difference.

When we consume VERUM 10X CBD, the cannabinoids and terpenes act upon receptors within our body's endocannabinoid system ("ECS"). This means that 10X helps to support our ECS as it controls our responses to pleasure, memory, appetite, sleep, coordination, and both sensory and time perception. 10X also attaches to receptors in the brain that are related to Serotonin production. VERUM 20C on the other hand is in the form of pure Crystalline and does not contain other cannabinoids and terpenes.
A single serving of VERUM 20C ‘Concentrate’ contains 20-milligrams of one-of-a-kind, highly-bioavailable Canabidiol ("CBD"). This bio-enhanced CBD product is made from crystalline CBD purified from organic agricultural hemp. The resulting CBD is so pure that it is termed an “isolate”. It is fully water-soluble containing CBD only in an especially potent form. VERUM 20X CBD softgels are sought after by consumers who want to experience the full potential that can be achieved by an exceptionally bioavailable and potent CBD product – without the confounding influence of other plant chemistry. VERUM 20C softgels are eminently effective; and these act more rapidly than do the traditional CBD products offered by others.

VERUM 10X ‘Full-Spectrum’ softgels are made from our full spectrum micro-emulsion; each softgel containing 5-milligrams of Canabidiol ("CBD") or 10-milligrams per serving. The CBD in VERUM10X is extracted without unhealthy organic solvents via a proprietary, patented process directly from organic agricultural hemp. This extraction process yields a product containing a one-of-a-kind or distinctive, rapid-acting and highly-bioavailable CBD in a fully water-soluble, but seemingly oil-like, emulsion, along with terpenes and other plant-derived substances VERUM 10X Full-Spectrum softgels are desirable by those consumers who want to experience a uniquely effective, bioavailable CBD in the context of the “entourage effect”, in which compounds besides CBD present in industrial hemp assist in modulating the effects of CBD.
You won’t get high from taking our 10X or 20C products. They are manufactured from from organic industrial hemp, so it doesn’t contain nearly enough THC for you to experience the “high” associated with marijuana and TCH. While there are trace amounts (less than .3%) of THC in VERUM products, your body couldn’t physically consume the amount of it needed to ever get high. We’re talking truckloads. And we’re pretty sure you don’t want to drink that much of ANY oil.
The uptake of VERUM CBD depends on several factors such as your current health, your digestion, and the amount (mg) of CBD you take. The best source of info on what to expect in relation to time and effect may come from talking to your healthcare professional, or simply by seeing how your body responds.
That depends on the amount used, frequency and length of use. Your body’s metabolism, weight, and health status all play a role in determining your response to VERUM CBD products. Some people report a quick response, while others report a slower response. Again, we recommend consulting with your health care provider if you have any questions about how VERUM CBD may be working for you.
That probably depends on your specific situation. As with any supplement, we recommend health care provider counseling. Your provider (assuming he or she is familiar with CBD) should be able to provide you with guidance on whether there’s a specific time of day or situation that’s best for you to supplement with VERUM CBD products.
At the present time, we’re not aware of any negative health effects of using CBD oil. That said, it’s always a good idea to discuss your concern for any possible side effects with your healthcare professional.
The human body is constantly shifting to stay balanced and healthy – a process called homeostasis. One way our bodies maintain homeostasis is via the Endocannabinoid System (ECS).

The ECS is made up of receptors on cell membranes that regulate a variety of processes including eating, sleeping, relaxation and cognition. The ECS also assists in the body’s overall recovery and repair. Our bodies naturally produce compounds called “endocannabinoids” that bind to those receptors, like a key fitting into a lock.

VERUM CBD is plant-based, nano micro-emulsified cannabinoid – or phytocannabinoid – that is carried through the stomach and delivered to the bloodstream in a nano-micell construct. The bloodstream then carries the CBD to cell receptor sites in the ECS. Once the cannabinoid enters the cell receptor, our body’s ability to maintain ideal health is “unlocked.”
“Endo” means "within" – endocannabinoids are cannabinoids produced naturally by cells in the human body.
Terpenes are compounds found in the essential oils produced by many plants, including cannabis (what makes a lemon smell like a lemon). Terpenes bond with cannabinoids to turbo charge them, creating synergistic effects, otherwise known as the "Entourage Effect.
All benefits you derive from a plant that come from a wide range of cannabinoids, terpenes, antioxidants, nutrients and other plant compounds present in the Hemp plant. It can provide a greater effect than CBD alone as all the cannabinoids work together in a way known as the "Entourage Effect. A recent study (see below) has documented the superior therapeutic properties of whole-plant (Full Spectrum) cannabis extract--found in VERUM 10X--over single-molecule (Isolated) CBD.

It's when the various compounds of our full spectrum CBD hemp oil in VERUM 10X are combined, their benefit is greater than what you’d receive from each individual component. There are over 85 ‘identified’ compounds in the Hemp plant. While most of these compounds have their own therapeutic benefits, they combine synergistically* to provide far better results.

What are the benefits of VERUM CBD?

The benefits of CBD in human health have been published in many peer-reviewed medical studies (see below). DSHEA (Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994) guidelines, prohibit us from specifically stating conditions CBD may address, therapeutically. Do your own research, consult with healthcare providers familiar with CBD, and use PubMed.gov as a resource as newly published research is coming out in real time.

Culinary hemp seed oil is pressed only from hemp seeds, and it’s often used as a cooking oil or in cold recipes as a healthy fat that provides Omega-6 and some Omega-3. Most CBD products use a combination of hemp oil and some other "carrier" oil to aid in digestion. Culinary hemp seed oil contains a very low amount of CBD and little to no THC. VERUM CBD products are not oil-based; they do not use any oil so they are 100% water soluble to increase bioavailabilty to the bloodstream.
Hemp is legal, whereas marijuana (in most states) is not. With regard to VERUM CBD products, it isn’t quite so black and white. There are a number of overlapping pieces of legislation – and a lot of opinions – surrounding the legality of CBD. Here’s our current interpretation of the law and the landscape*:
VERUM CBD is derived from industrial hemp which contains little to no THC. The DEA’s list of schedule 1 controlled substances (https://www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/21cfr/cfr/1308/1308_11.htm) specifically includes marijuana and marijuana extract, but does not include industrial hemp or CBD. In fact, the CSA specifically exempts hemp derived from mature seeds and stalks that contains less than 0.3% THC. VERUM CBD is derived from organic industrial hemp. Some states appear to view CBD from industrial hemp differently than CBD from marijuana.
The federal government has yet to specifically state that CBD is legal, it is our understanding that there are two situations in which the federal government has carved out exceptions from prohibition:

Exception 1: CBD products made from industrial hemp are generally regarded as legal as long as they contain less than 0.3% THC by dry weight and were grown on farms sanctioned under a State’s Industrial Hemp Research Pilot (IHRP) project. These pilot projects were authorized by the Agricultural Act of 2014, aka 2014 Farm Bill.

Exception 2: The CBD in question is derived from the mature stalk or seeds of the plant and contains less than 0.3% THC by dry weight
VERUM's Highly BioAvailable CBD is derived from industrial hemp grown on farms sanctioned by Colorado’s IHRP. It contains less than 0.3% THC.
It’s unlikely, but it could. VERUM CBD does contain a very LOW amount of THC. So, conceivably, much like when you eat foods that contain poppy seeds, it could show up on a drug test. This probably depends on the amount of CBD you’re taking and how long you’ve been taking it. Of course, it also depends on exactly what’s being tested for. This is also true with culinary hemp oil and hemp protein products.
It is possible to have allergic reactions to most plants. If you’re quite sensitive to many plants and have allergic reactions to them, it’s a good idea to consult with your healthcare professional or allergist before using any new product coming from plants. It might be that you have to start out with a fraction of the suggested serving in order to see if you might react, but as always, please talk to your healthcare provider first.

The 2014 Farm Bill (Agricultural Act of 2014) defines industrial hemp as distinct from marijuana and is often cited as evidence that CBD derived from industrial hemp is legal. In actuality, the Farm Bill made it legal to grow, cultivate and market hemp and hemp products as part of a state sanctioned industrial hemp research pilot program.
We believe that hemp, and hemp-derived products (including CBD) are legal so long as they’re grown under a state-sanctioned Industrial Hemp Pilot Program (IHPP). Those pilot programs were established by section 7606 of the [federal] Agricultural Act of 2014 (aka the 2014 Farm Bill).

In 2014, Congress passed the Consolidated Appropriations Act, which states that none of the funds made available by that act (or any other act) may be used to contravene (interfere) with section 7606 of the Agricultural Act. States receiving federal funds cannot prohibit the transportation, processing, sale, or use of industrial hemp that is grown or cultivated in accordance with one of the IHPPs. That applies whether the hemp is from either that State itself, or from another State. And for the record, ALL states receive federal funds.

US-grown hemp (and products derived from that hemp) NOT grown as part of a State-sanctioned IHPP, however, would not be protected by the Consolidated Appropriations Act.

VERUM’s Highly BioAvailable CBD is derived from the seed and stalk of legal Colorado-grown Hemp under Colorado’s IHPP
Not to be confused with the 2014 Farm Bill, the Hemp Farming Bill of 2018 was introduced on the federal level by Senator Mitch McConnell in April and is being referred to as the Dream Bill by hemp advocates. The key reason for this is the bill will legalize hemp – not just stalk and seeds but ALL parts of the cannabis sativa L plant with a concentration of not more than 0.3% THC – on the federal level.

The bill specifically de-schedules all derivatives, extracts, cannabinoids, and seeds of hemp as long as those portions remain below 0.3% THC, which will clear up the confusing grey area we currently navigating.
